Hey guys so I wanna add a cold air intake to my 1999 v6 3.8L camaro. Where can I find the best ones for the best prices? I've also sew different types of intakes which one should I go with and why?

 

well the actual intake part doesnt really matter too much you want it smooth on the inside the filter is where its at just get one off ebay

^Different designs from different companies. I don't like the Chrome Intake at all on the Camaro. I prefer the SLP or the Fast Toys design.

Hm, there's always a debate when CAIs turn up. I've always been told with K&N that the more air flow they let in, the more dirt they let in as well. So I've stuck with a paper filter. To replicate what it would feel like with 'more air flow' I drove without my filter for a few miles down the highway. Didn't notice any difference. With K&Ns you might not have to buy another filter, but you have to use the special cleaner on it or whatever it says to clean it. But some people swear by them. I don't know. I'd rather spend money on better things than expensive air filters and cleaners. I kept my paper filter and used the SLP intake set up http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLE-21033/
And I bought it from Summit (LOVE them). You're not going to notice any power gain really unless you have a full exhaust set up. When I added mine, I had already changed the muffler to a Magnaflow. All I noticed is how much she smoothed out when accelerating. You don't see the intake either.

 

The paper filters are fine (not like you will pick up 5hp from a filter swap anyway), and are generally better at stopping dirt and debris than the K&N and other brands. A CAI will help with the sound of the car too, also as DR said, it is much more noticable with exhaust work done. The tone of the exhaust does change, and change for the better.

the smoothness of the CAI helps the air to flow better than the stock intake with the bendy grooves in it think of it this way can you go faster on a straight stretch of rd or a curvy rd
