So my father and I just purchased a 97 SS camaro with 148000 on the clock with intensions of rebuilding the motor. Problem is the clutch shattered...and we are looking for a new clutch and flywheel package. Im just wondering what other people are using and how its working out for you

Textralia ! I love mine. Great everyday feel with no chatter. I got the steel flywheel too and the master slave thingy all shipped for about $1100. It can hold alot of power I think up to 700rwhp. The dual disc version holds alot more than that.

Testing to see if this pops it into our "current" and therefore visible SS/Z28 section...

U R correct...forgot that yours was a 97. BUT as mentioned above the Mcleod twin disk is mighty strong and I have heard only good things about it

Yeah i have been reading up on those and they sound like solid clutches but my father and I are on a budget and we looked at the RAM clutches online and they looked pretty good for a reasonable price

i use the spec 3+ clutch. did alot of reading beforehand. handle 850tq, but it still acts like a street clutch and wears really well. like zoilus, i got my clutch, flywheel, and hydraulics for 1100

ive done ALOT of clutch research being wat im building and all and it seems as if the spec clutch's r hit or miss. if you get a good one they are great but ive read about 10 different threads from ppl online that the clutch was burnt up after about 1k miles. the ram HD clutch is a good one and good on the wallet.

based on my reading, it depends on WHICH spec clutch u get. the 2+ is complete garbage, and there is another one to stay away from. everything I read said that the 3+ is not only the best one and most reliable that spec makes, but the only one worth the money. i got it, and im happy with it
