Chevy dealer can't repair power window??
My driver side power window wouldn't work properly so I went to my local Chevy dealer for repairs. After three days they called and said they couldn't repair it! Why? Well, the service department took off the door panel and said it was a job for the body shop. The body shop said the "fiberglass rivets" were broken and they didn't know how to fix them. The suggested I take it to a local body shop. Since when can't a Chevrolet dealer fix a Chevrolet power window??
do you have the door panel off? there is no such thing as a fiberglass rivet. the rivets that hold the window mechanism in are to large for a common rivet gun so a large one is needed that will work with 1/4 inch rivets. if the window motor has been replaced and screws was used and they came lose and damaged the fiberglass door to the point where repairs are needed. the hole rounded out to big. then you will need to do some fiberglass work. what I used was fiberglass resin that has fibers in it, then I sandwiched a metal washer, that had a 1/4 inch hole in it, in the places where the rivets go. wish I would have taken pictures when it did this. I dont remember if I used any matting but I think I may have used a small amount to reinforce the resin stuff. make sure to sand the surface around the hole a bit to get good connection for the resin.
