Default Check Gauge Light

So this evening I am coming in and I notice that my "check gauge light" is on. I also notice that I am pretty low on fuel. Is this the Camaro's way of telling me to fill up?
I'm still learning about this car so I wondered if any of you more experianced owners could enlighten me on this.

Thanks so much!

Could be, although you want to keep it above a 1/4 of a tank anyway so you don't roast your fuel pump on a hot day. When my car ran out of gas and wouldn't start that light came on...

My cavalier would do the same thing. I've never let my 'maro get that low, but I would bet serious dough that that's what it's about. Especially if it goes away the next time you visit a gas pump

And if your fuel pump does go out, you can guarantee you will have a full tank. Murphy's law at it's best.

And this is another reason I've opted to buy another car.

Thanks so much for your help!

I'll make it a rule to not let it get below 1/2 tank from now on....I was just trying to run it as close to dry as possible to see how many miles I would get to a tank.

The check gages lite means that something bad is happening or going to happen soon, and you should look at the gages to see what they are trying to tell you. LOL

So the Check Gaugue light is the Camaro's way of telling me I am low on fuel...interesting. Filled her up and had an Optima battery installed the same day...I do love that car....now if I could just think of a name for her...

My check gauges light never came on when I was ow on gas, I even ran out of gas once and it still stayed off. The only time my check gauges light came n was when my car overheated and it wanted me to check that my temp was way above the red so I had to shut it off. Check your temperature. My service engine light randomly comes on = /

yes, it is telling you to get gas. I used to let my camaro get bone dry before filling it up, the check gauges light would always come on,DO NOT DO THAT! I ended up having to pay through the nose to get it fixed because I did that for a month or so.
