Changing to Synthetic Oil

Read some posts that synthetic oil is recommended. Are there any recommendations on switching over from dino oil? Do you need to clean out the existing oil or can synthetic be mixed with the residual dino oil?

Many Thanks, REN

I went full synthetic, and any one is better than regular oil, even Wal-Mart's SuperTech...

I just switched 2 vehicles from regualr to full synthetic oil. I was concerned about flushing the system but read several articles on the internet that said there was no need to flush the engine. They referenced several companies that switch from one to the other during different seasons without flushing. So far, no problems. I can't tell much difference with the Suburban but the ole Jeep straight six sure sounds alot quieter than with the reg 10w30 I was running.

Yes, it's recommended for the LT1 (if that's what you have), and better to use in general. Synthetic is compatible with dino oil, so just treat it like a regular oil & filter change.

I can say the same. The synthetic oil is prefferable.

No need to flush, even high end engines dont require flushes. The old stuff will be absorbed by the new stuff and on the next oil change any remnants will go out the drain.
