The lines are all quick connects. Get the tool from your local auto parts store to disconnect them.

 

The lines going into the top of the look like they are pressed into the pump... I guess that I needed to remove the lines where they connect... if that makes sense. There are some clips that hold the lines together before it goes into the top of the pump. That looks like the only place to remove them. Do the lines pull out of the top of the pump directly?

 

That is what I thought... I just saw the post about the quick connect lines. That is where I thought they had to be disconnected. That is going to be a chore... they look pretty hard to get to using the hatch method.

 

Not too bad. I did mine this way. But I cut my hole a little bigger too.

 

I managed to get my fuel pump out and am picking up the new pump tomorrow. There is just one thing that is puzzling me. The quick disconnect lines are undone, the pump is out of the tank, but on the top of the pump there are some electrical wires that connect to the pump through a yellow connector. I can't figure out how to get the yellow connector off of the top of the pump. Any ideas?

It seems like it is "stuck" on the top of the pump, almost like it is pressed on like a bearing. I am afraid to try and pry it off because I don't want to damage it. it appears to be a ground wire and a hot wire, but I could be mistaken.

 

I got it figured out, had to get under the car and disconnect the line near the tank

 

Ok, car is up and running like a champ now, however, my float seems to be stuck. Fuel gauge is showing empty on a full tank. It looks like I need to remove the pump again and try to get the float unstuck. Any ideas?

 

check your wires for any damage. im thinking if it was grounded it would go to max full but i could be wrong. once you get the pump down in the tank lift it up a little and make sure the float is moving. let me look a bit. brb
