hi i have a 1993 3.4L v6 that wont start and when it does it does not run right. when i go to start it i can smell gas and if i try to start it for too long i get flames shooting out of my exaust. on the rare occasion that it does start the idle is way low and the rpms will jump around untill it dies. i have changed the vats system and replaced the plugs and wires. the car is fireing but the plugs are soaked when i take them out. i also cheaked the fuel preasure at the motor and it was about 20 psi low. i am thinking it is either a timing problem or the injectors are bad but i dont know much about the car and would gretly appeciate some help

sounds like its getting to much fuel for some reason. so all the plugs have fuel on em? it would be unusual for all the injectors to fail at the same time. check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose to see if its leaking fuel through it, test the evap system, pick up a noid light so you can see if the injectors are being told to fire all the time. you might try unplugging the injectors and starting to clear the fuel out.

i dont know exactly what these things are or how to cheak this stuff...... i have worked on cars but not so much in depth is there anyway you could explain more of how to do these things? i know how to do the injectors but the other things not so much. and yes every plug has fuel on it. i am very eager to work on the car i just want to know whats wrong first

you will need a noid light from the local parts store that will work on your injector plugs. you need to make sure that when your turning the motor over the noid light is flashing and not on all the time. here is some info on the evap. https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-l...-system-51219/
more good info. alot of it is for the lt1 but alot is for all early 4th gen camaros.
4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids
i would recomend you pick up a factory service/shop manual for your yr.

In your first post you have already Identified the problem.
(assuming you know that that spec for fuel pressure is 41-47 psi.) The low fuel pressure is what you need to go after. You have One of 3 things going on here. the first and most likely is a bad fuel regulator. the diaphragm inside is pry torn and it's leaking fuel into the intake through the vacuum hose, the second is the fuel pump is leaking fuel back into the tank, or you have a severely leaky fuel injector.
First pull the hose off the fuel regulator and turn the key on or crank the engine for a sec and I bet your see fuel squirting out. which means you need to replace your fuel pressure regulator.
i also cheaked the fuel preasure at the motor and it was about 20 psi low.
