Default Car not running right and an AC question

When I start the car in really cold weather it runs like complete crap. I think its the mass air flow sensor but I wanna know for sure before I go putting money into it. Its a 95 3.4L and also does anyone know the part number for the shorter belt to bypass the AC? Its squealing real bad the bearings are going out and I have a replacement one but its really really cold right now and I can't change that.

i know they make a kit to replace the ac pump with a pully but never heard of just using a shorter belt.

have you checked for sevice codes stored.

sometimes MAF sensors do get bad in cold weather. this should put a engine code light in your car, is it coming up? that is important

check to see you dont have any vacuum leaks

I'm quite sure the 3.4 didn't have a MAF, but used a MAP sensor.

Yeah, I think it is map. The SES light comes on and will stay on for a few seconds then not come on again for a while. When I first start it it smells like unburned gas and just does not want to run but once it warms up a tad it stops doing it...and as for the AC thing I just dont wanna mess with the AC right now, I hardly ever use it anyway...

could that be a IAC, don't know if that engine has one or not?

i think a bad IAC sensor will give him problem during acceleration. For example car running and all of a sudden rpms jumping up and down and the car going to a stall.

well I've heard of some people running into that problem he discribed when they did the resistor mod to it, but I wasn't sure and just wanted to offer it up.

if the ses light has been on (other than when you first turn the car on) there should be some stored codes. get them and look them up or post them. if you dont have access to a shop/repair manual u should get one. it will tell you how to retreave the codes and what they mean. there may be a sticky on it, here on the site somewhere.
