Car got hit...

would my premiums really go up because I was the victim of a hit-and-run?

They could, because you're making a claim for yourself. The fact that someone else did the damage sucks, and is too bad for you. It also depends on how the Ins. co. operates. Mine gives us one free "oops", so if I were to drive the car up a tree they would pay and I wouldn't get dinged on my premium. Unfortunately, with having teenage drivers, my "oops" coupon has already been used. That does get reset to zero after a few years.

I recently saw a photo online of people who witnessed a hit and run in a parking lot. They wrote down the plate of the person who took off and put it in the windshield of the car which was hit. Good Samaritans!

You shouldn't see too much of a difference. I'm married and over 25 and my premium only went up 156 every six months after my accident
