Can a 78 350 Go into my 95
Just recently got a 95 camaro that was in great shape for a steal, but it was a v6 and just got a running 350 out of a 78 camaro,
Just took the motor apart and nothings wrong but alittle wear on the cam shaft and lifters, so gunna swap them out
Stayin carbed, not gunna mess around with the computer
i know im gunna have to change motor mounts and rear end but any other hardcore problems ill run in to?
thanks

Sticking a carbed motor into a 4th gen body will be a challenge. There is not a lot of room to mount an air cleaner and carb up under the dash.
Oh, crap. I just remembered that the distributor on that 350 is mounted on the back of the intake. I don't know if you will be able to access that with it installed. It will be extremely tight to say the least. You may have to cut the firewall to clear and possibly modify the dash as well.
If you are looking for more power, swapping in a Buick V-6 from a GNX would be a pretty sweet project. But again, you may have some serious problems getting everything to fit under the hood and still be accessible.
I am sure that someone has done a swap similar to what you are wanting to do. Try searching on the boards or internet for more information.

welll,, er,,,, u can do anything with enough money. u would need a z28 for the parts needed so if u want to keep the car find a low milage 6 the same size. each size of 6 in the camaro seems to have its own setup.

First off if a 165 HP v6 is a Problem a 170HP V8 is not the solution. Its a huge project. Search the site its been covered a bunch of times. In my opinion even if you had a free old school 300 HP 350 it would not be worth it. Just sell the V6 car buy a LT1 with a blown head gasket and 20 hours later and a couple hundread bucks and your done.

Where does the air cleaner go? Adjust the timing how? Remove engine to replace distributor cap?

Still not worth it. The wrecked doner with a good low miles drive line sell for more then a nice car with a blown head gasket. Now add in the 100+ hours it will take to replace all the other parts and the fact that a converted car sells for next to nothing and really is not worth it.
Buy a LT1 car that has a blown head gasket for $1200 repair the head gaskets (about 2 weekends for a first timers) back out of the driveway in a $3000 car you have a total $1500 invested in. Now sell your untouched V6 car for 2K. Walk away with $500 bucks in your pocket and a $3000 car.

Maybe,depends on whats out there.
Sometime wrecks go dirt cheap, finding a good Z28 for sale with just a blown head gasket would be great if you can find one.
Then how do you know that's the only damage,it's a crap shoot at best.
Probably the best deal is to save or borrow some money and just buy a good running Z28 then sell or trade in the V6 car.
A friend down the street is working on putting a heavily modified ws-6 engine and 6-speed transmission into a v-6 automatic firebird. At first I thought "Why is he spending thousands and thousands of dollars on this thing when he could just buy a $3000 car that already has a v-8 and 6-speed transmission?" Then I realized it, because it's fun. You don't need to think about resale value all the time, sometimes it is just a good way to pass a few weekends. This doesn't sound like a daily driver, it sounds like a project car. Of corse this doesn't answer your question at all.
