If you can afford it go for the LS1. Good gas milage and a great engine. Drives well and it's not a beast unless you stomp on the throttle.

x2

but the 3.8 is a pretty BA engine too. the LT1 is also, but is a pain in the ***.

and to answer one of your first questions. from 93 = 02 the trans-am(v8)/firebird(v6) is exactly the same as a camaro.

as for a mustang.. i wouldn't get one, even though im thinking of buying one. lol

^^^not helpful at all and a waste of time. anyway, a 3.8 is a solid motor and you will be happy with it if you're not really looking for the horsepower. don't get me wrong, it does well for what it is, but obviously a v8 is going to get you faster. my gas mileage is about 20 in my 97 ss, but i don't drive her very hard at all. if i were you, i'd probably just get a v6. you'll be happy and still have a camaro
well if hes going to get a V6 he might as well get a mustang V6, a lot newer and mroe convenient and have pretty good gas mileage and for a reasonable price. id rather have an 08 Mustang base than a 93-02 V6 maro/bird

especially for the color changing gauges =]

and the warranty because its inevitable, something will happen to the car.

It really comes down to what you want to get out the car and how much money you want to spend. I agree with the pack on a few things. If you are looking for horses I would got with the LS1 but don't get me wrong 3.8 is a nice engine and it decents for what it is. Gas mileage dependsown how you drive mostly.I've owned both. The latest is the 3.8 and I like it. I'm not on the freeway racing everyone I see be it's nice to take the top off and get up and down the free like I want to. Get what YOU want. Let us know what you decide.

All you pay is 120 is that full coverage or just what the state requires? Mine is 181 full coverage and I'm married and 21.

I got my LS1 for cheaper than my v6. There's nothing wrong with the six banger, i'd take it over just about any other v6 out there. with that said, after driving the ls1, I don't really have much desire to drive my v6 anymore, even though i have to cause the z28 still needs to be insured, registered, and inspected.

I almost bought a mustang also. GT's in my area are a lot cheaper than camaro lt1/ls1's so I figured that was really my only way to get a v8. But if you hold out for a little bit and keep looking on cars.com, you can find a good deal.
