Cam questions

Alright my cam is shot on my 95 Lt-1, i have to replace it but i dont want to spend a **** load of money. what kind of set up is good that will also make it sound meaner? I was looking at the GM hot cam but i heard comp cams are better. which one is better and will be more reliable? and also sound bad ***

well if you want it louder you want bigger lift on the intake/exhaust and if you want it to sound mean you want bigger duration on the intake/exhaust the GM Hot cam would be the way to go cause if you go to big you goin to have change valve springs and you might also want to atlease change the push rods there

Lift has very little effect on sound, duration and the cams LSA contribute more to sound than anything. The higher the LSA # the smoother the cam will be at idle. And I would suggest that you change valve springs ANYTIME you change the cam. Stock springs are only good enough to support a stock cam.

Ya thats just what i was told awhile back. Cams arnt my specialty i was just throwin out what i was told if i wanted my Blazer to have that agressive sound.

x2, in all reality the LT4 hotcam kit is probably the best buy at this point, it comes with everything you need for a functional cam swap except gaskets, including 1.6:1 roller rockers and matching valve springs. You probably don't want to get anything less than 112 LSA if you have emissions to worry about.

Alright thanks everyone, i have only a few more questions, what kind of lifters should i get and do i need to buy pushrons also, or would the stock be alright? and also what do u think this will all cost labor wise? i am tierd of the headache with this car so i want to just bring it and get it done.
