Cam questions
Alright my cam is shot on my 95 Lt-1, i have to replace it but i dont want to spend a **** load of money. what kind of set up is good that will also make it sound meaner? I was looking at the GM hot cam but i heard comp cams are better. which one is better and will be more reliable? and also sound bad ***
well if you want it louder you want bigger lift on the intake/exhaust and if you want it to sound mean you want bigger duration on the intake/exhaust the GM Hot cam would be the way to go cause if you go to big you goin to have change valve springs and you might also want to atlease change the push rods there
Lift has very little effect on sound, duration and the cams LSA contribute more to sound than anything. The higher the LSA # the smoother the cam will be at idle. And I would suggest that you change valve springs ANYTIME you change the cam. Stock springs are only good enough to support a stock cam.
