Hello guy, I just found this site and hope you can help. I just purchased a 93 Z28 6 speed last week. The a/c is only blowing hot air. When its turned on the a/c compressor doesnt cycle. I pulled the relay in the underhood fuse block and jumped the terminals with a paper clip. The compressor will run for a couple seconds, then shut back off. I am usuallt pretty competent at my own repairs but know nearly nothing about a/c systems. Can anyone plz help?

 

I would first charge the A/C unit. If you just purchased it, you don't know when it was charged last.

If that doesn't work (long term), look for a leak in the A/C lines. That old of car, lines can become brittle.

 

I do have alittle more info. I jumped it at the relay last night and started charging it. The compressor started fast cycling then eventually started running anytime it was jumped. I think I am gonna have to pull a vacuum on it first then charge it. I'm thinking the system was just completely out. Will post am update soon
