Bought myself a cherry 99 Z28, love it!
I recently got the horsepower bug again and wanted to get back in an F-Body. I drove a 96 SS (#260) for 6 years and loved it, but this time I wanted an LS1.
Low and behold a local Chrysler dealer got a '99 Z as a trade in, I saw it sitting in the back of their lot with the other auction fodder. It only has 48K on the clock, looks brand new in and out, and has some serious engine upgrades done. The prior owner obviously loved it as everything looks and functions like brand new. The dealer basically wholesaled it to me for %40 below KBB because of the heavy mods and nitrous. The sales manager was going to send it to auction, lucky I talked him out of it! The dealer knew the local mechanic who built the engine, luckily he was able to tell me everything about the car:
Engine:
Texas Speed 228R cam on 110 LSA
PAC Valve Springs .625 lift
LS2 Timing Chain
LS2 ported oil pump
Ford 36lb injectors
Fast 92mm intake and throttle body
HSW 92mm nitrous plate with 75 shot pill
HSW Nitrous kit, tank in trunk, switches in ash tray with line purge
Pace Setter Long Tube headers, ceramic coated
Texas speed catted y-pipe
Flowmaster American Thunder series 80 exhaust
Transmission:
Monster Stage II clutch
New Hydraulic lines with remote bleeder
tick adjustable master cylinder
B&M precision shifter
Skip shift eliminator
Suspension:
Looks to have traction bars and subframe connectors
This car is FAST!!!!! I need to get it on a dyno and put some decent rubber on it. I am guessing it is sitting around 400rwhp. Anyone have a setup like this?

nice setup there. Just needs some new wheels, headlights, slp grille, maybe a nice sunoco hood and new catback (get that blowmaster off there!). I love the TSP 228r cam, awesome sound and stellar performance. Honestly, I'd peg it around 415rwhp; the TSP 224R is known to get close to 400rwhp on some setups.

I'd leave the wheels on it. It is more fun to find someone who thinks they are about to go against a stock car. Then you can drop the hammer and have some fun. I used to do that all the time with my '64 Nova. Looked like grandma's grocery getter from the curb, with slightly wider rear wheels. If I had a nickle for all of the 5.0 'Stangs that bit off more than they could chew......

I'm gonna do the stock wheels for a little while, but I think I will put some good tires on it to help some. I would consider a set of 17x9 SS wheels if I could find some OEM ones for cheap. Probably gonna pony up for some Goodyears. I also LOVE the stock look on it, it is perfect bait for a Challenger SRT. This thing will eat those mopars for breakfast!
Who makes a good headlight kit for these cars that is still tasteful with a stock look?
