Default Best CAI?

Ok so i was watchin an episode of American Muscle Cars were they were talking about induction and they were interviewing Gale Banks the king of forced induction. He said that the more cold air the better.I want to get the most effectiveintake i can..but i cant afford a supercharger yet. The stock design the LT1 hasdoesnt look too effective and a cold air intake looks OK but there has got to be something more effective.. i was looking at the LS1s intake and i see how its basically travelling directly to the T/B from the airbox... Would my LT1 be able to utilize something like that? Is there a more effective intake design i can run to get colder air into my engine faster?

they proved that the ram air on a camaro is worthless. too many bends in the hood.... maybe 3-5 hp @ 120 mph

the air foil goes in front of the throttle body and directs air better to go into the 2 sides of the throttle body. and not just smack the front of it.

The Generation II FIPK® is K&N's ultimate performance product, designed to increase power by as much as 10%. Most FIPK's are street legal in all 50 US states and come with a Million Mile Limited Warranty. K&N intake systems replace your vehicle's restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range. The filters on these kits are washable and reusable. Most of our intake kits are relatively easy to install using tools commonly available (see installation instructions). [MORE]

You're not going to get the full 18, it's marketing hype, to take it with a grain of salt. Either way it does help improve power over about 3000 rpm because the stock intake starts choking airflow about then(when you get your new one and take out the old one you'll laugh at how stupidly it was designed). Either way, go for one made for the LT1, that way you don't have to re-route anything etc.

The ls1 has a plasticshield that pulls air from the front air dams. It sits in front of the radiater.
