Bad intake lifter

ok, 93 Z28, it started a while back with really bad ticking, took it to my friend and he said it has a bad intake lifter, now my question is how hard would it be to just replace the single lifter? and do you guys think the cam would be shot as well? if so how much do you think I can pick up a used LS1 cam/lifter from a junkyard, and if I do that will I have any problems switchin cams? thanks alot for the help really appriciate it!!!!!!!

Check the roller on the lifter, if it is dragging, rough, or has flat spots. it probably damaged the camshaft. You can always replace a single lifter, but it would be better to put in a new one, besides a junk yard won't part out an engine just for a lifter.

As I said, check the roller on the lifter, if it looks and feels good then the cam should be OK. The lifter can collapse, but as long as the roller is in good shape, it won't damage the cam. Usually a bad roller will make a high pitched squealing sound. To change the lifter there isno need to remove the cam, but the intake manifold willhave to be removed in order to get to the lifter.
