Automatic transmission fluid and filter change

Also
When you pull the filter, a new filter seal should come in the kit with the new filter. The old seal is a pain in the *** to get out; just take your time with a small screwdriver....don't tear up the shaft it goes into. Getting it back in is a pain also. I had a guy at work machine a piece of aluminum as a tapping block for my but you can use a socket and small hammer to tap it up into place.
Just take your time.
Just take your time.

This. I've made this mistake, except I put 5 quarts in a dry transmission

Anything except the cheapo house brand. My old car started slipping after adding the Advance brand fluid (or I should say it slipped once, after driving it for 8 hours straight, only bathroom breaks) fixed it by putting back in name brand fluid.
High mileage fluids are slightly thicker, and because of that, could I guess give you worse fuel economy (theoretically)? But tit would be better for the transmission, and if you lost any fuel economy it would be negligible. I never noticed anything...
No special additives, most of them don't work. The Lucas stuff is like jelly, so for a really worn transmission I might put that in. But it would really just be a band-aide for the inevitable if it was that bad.
