Anything to add to a new engine install?
My 1997 V6 Camaro blew the engine and I am buying a reman'd 3.8 next month. Is there anything else I should replace when putting a fresh engine in a car that has 178k miles on it? I was thinking new injectors or maybe even fuel rails. I'm looking for decent brand names too if you can help a noob out. I'd like some light mod suggestions as well...nothing radical, this is my daily driver.

power steering pump, all coolant hoses you can find or afford, may want to give the radiator a good flushin or change out to a new or rebuild, water pump. plastic y that always breaks when old. thats all i can think of. lol.

If it has an auto tranny, check the front tranny seal for leaking before putting engine back in. Also might want to consider replacing the O2 sensors while you can get to the rascals. Also, if you removed the engine out the bottom, any work that you would be doing like brakes, struts, tierods, ect can be done alot easier with the cradle out from under the car.

Beware of o-rings! Those little rascals can give you one big headache when tearing things apart and putting it back together. I had to replace my entire heater hose setup because one of the o-rings tore and you can't find replacement ones the correct size anywhere. How much were you wanting to spend on some mods? Depending on your budget will then influence what you can do mod-wise. I just rebuilt my engine and did some mods to it and she's my daily driver also if you want to check out my build thread for a couple ideas.
BTW, Craby, your new sig pic kinda scares me....

Thanks for the replies. I had to replace the radiator last year and the water pump is 2 years old, so I am fortunate to already have those. I forgot about the hoses...thanks craby. I'll get a new power steering pump as well.
Osduck5, Is that what is commonly called a front seal? I'll pick one up and look into the O2 sensors. The entire front suspension was replaced in 2006, so I'm good there.
@Craby....what plastic Y were to referring to?
