psh gm said it was gonna cost me $9500 to replace my old LT1 on my 95 back when the engine blew....








Is it possible to shove an LS1 into a 97 f-body like an LS1 from an F-body though, like after the corvette was totalled i asked if they could put that engine in my camaro and they said it was too big.. but corvettes and TA/Z28s LS1s are different, right?

 

corvette and Z/Bird LS1s are the same thing. only difference may be that, in 93-97 the hood sat lower, but i dont think so. it would still be a hard swap though i think. better off with a stroker

 

buy a used lt1 for 1,000-1,500 and 1,000 to have a shop swap it.

 

i swear pricing is so out of wack. ok a used lt1 for 1.5k... and a swap for 1k.... when i asked if theyd put a hot cam kit in they were gonna charge me 1400!

So you say its cheaper to get a used lt1? (what about an lt4?)

 

just get the lt1 be happy save money and keep driving

 

good luck finding a lt4, stick with the stock motor.

plus machine work,the cost to build it,labor = not worth it. buy a used LT1

 

i found a fully built 383 for 4000 up the street from me.
and you have no idea how much it would bother me to get a used LT1 with more miles than what mine had [:@]which was 98900 [im partially OCD]

 

find a low milage LT1
