after market fan for the raditor.
i noticed that my car over heats when the AC is on. No leak, no vacuum leak, no internal leaking of any type, no thremostat. I'm thinking now that fan is no good, i have replaced it before but it didnt change. when im in high speed with the AC on it cools down for a bit. if i leave it idled for more than an hour the temperture rises all the way. so should i put an after market fan?
Unless you modified the engine, the stock fans should be more than able to handle the job. Make sure the fans go to high speed when the engine gets up to around 225-230. You need to put the t'stat back in. Without the restriction of the t'stat the water flows too fast to pick up and remove the heat efficiently. Also, make sure you are using 50-50 antifreeze-water mix to prevent boiling over, and make sure the radiator is not partially clogged.
Check the condition of the anti-freeze. Did you bleed the system? That can lead to over heating. Make sure the relays for the fans are good. Yours uses three I believe. Also, make sure your air dam is in place and there isn't anything blocking the radiator/condensor assembly. If possible, check to make sure pressure is good throughout the cooling system. A faulty radiator cap can cause the engine to over heat also.
how can i check the condition of the anti freeze, i think ive bled it once before thinking there my be pockets of air inside the system. now my fan is consistly on, from the moment i turn on the car. the fan is connected to the ecu. when i bought the car they put a independant relay to keep the fan consistly on. so the fan doesnt stop.
You can get a tester at a auto parts store for less than $10. I can't remember what year it is, but made one fan stay on all the time on low speed. Then it'd switch to full. And if necessary both would go to full. Make sure you bled all the air out. Could try a flush and fill to see if that helps.
Problem resolved, but let me know if this is a bad. So in the end I replaced the entire fan for a fan from a crown Victorian and it more a less fit on there. A little modding but it's on there really tight. With the AC on it stays cool in this extreme heat in Miami. I tested in the city in the middle of day and it felt good. What do you think?
