98-02 TA Hood Options
Ok guys I am looking into buying either a WS6 or a regular Trans Am. If I don't end up with a WS6, I want to know which hood options I have for the TA. I know there's obviously the WS6 hood and cowl hoods but are there other options? Here's what I would really like! A WS6 hood without the grill dividers. I you look in the ram air section of the hood there are dividers that separate the top and bottom of the grill, making it a 4-piece grill. Look here:

See the white sections between the upper and lower grills? I don't like that. However, the Firehawk hood doesn't have the dividers. But the scoops on the Firehawk hood aren't as big as the WS6 hood. Any idea if anyone has made a WS6 hood without those dividers? Here's the Firehawk hood. See what I mean when I say the scoops are smaller but without the dividers?

Jeez, you're not a picky poop, are ya?
Personally, I don't care for the look of the Firehawk hood. It resembles some sort of snorting animal with a yanked up nose.

Raptor, Superhawk or WS9 outlaw are your two more popular options
Raptor hood is essentially a Firehawk hood with more pronounced nostrils, larger cowl.

Superhawk is similar to both Firehawk and Raptor, nostrils are a bit bigger on the superhawk

And you idead of eliminating the divider I have seen done;
MY WS1 hood modification. check it out! - LS1TECH
The end result is a weird looking SUperhawk hood, looks out of place to me
WS9 is similar to a WS6 but has small heat extractors

THe factory ram air hood always will have the divider you talk about. All Trans-am models could have been optioned with the ram air hood, just like the Camaro Z28s. The WS6 is the FB version of the SS and always had the ram air. A firehawk was a SS on roids as it came with better brakes and the computer was tweaked for a few more HP than the SS had. This option was expensive and not many were sold (I did sell one when I worked for Pontiac) Firehawks could have been optioned with Ram Air as well. The Firehawk had a unique nose that was unique only to the FH.

You could have a WS6 Formula or Trans Am, the WS6 package was offered on both as was the Firehawk package. As far as I know, there are no differences in the PCMs, power remains the same whether it is a base Formula, a WS6 or a Firehawk. The Firehawk had a unique hood and graphics, the front nose itself remained unchanged.
IN the middle of the Firehawk bumper cover it is not round like the standard bumper cover it is flatter and kinda peaked to meet with the hood. It is different I found this out when I had a wrecked FH to repair when I was an autobody technician.
