Default 98-02 to 93-97

I see a lot of people ask or doing the Ls1 front end on their Lt1 cars. Im wondering if anyone out there has done the reverse and put the Lt1 nose on a ls1 car. There was a thread about this on Ls1Tech but it turned into a complete flame war.

The LS1 in its factory state needs a little more room then the LT1. Other then that I think the front end are interchangeable. I am sure it would not take much to find a 93-97 owner with a white car that will swap with you.

Oh I have a 97. I was just wondering because I have never seen one. With an Ls1 Id imagine the main problem is the lid. On the Ls1 forum someone said to use the Lt1 elbow intake and A Moroso Cai. I just think it would be need to see this. I know if I bought a 98+ that I would do it.

you would have to remove the insulation as well since it would hit the throttle body. and if you slam your hood there is a good chance that you will dent it where the throttle body is. It would be really close right there maybe 1/4 inch at most. Yes the air box is a HUGE interfearnace issue so something would have to be done there. You would need the LT1 radiator mount since the LS1 L36 mount is part of the air box. Not sure I would flip mine tho... I have an issue paying $30 for standard halogen bulbs when I can get the upgraded Silverstars for that price in the ones I have now. Also no Sliverstars for the 93-97 cars

Ya, I know the airbox is the main problem. If I did this swap, It wouldnt be on another 3.8. Im trying to upgrade to a Lt1 car by the end of summer and store the one I have now in my uncles Pole Barn. I like the 93-97 look, But if I can get an Ls1 car, Id definitely consider swapping the front end. Someone said use the elbow intake from the Lt1 with a Moroso Cai to clear the hood instead of the airbox intake.

I would swap it. I think that the 93-97 front ends look horrible. Just my opinion.

Not sure, but I think the pre-'97 intake tract is more restrictive than the post-'98 one.

Don't know if there will be much difference on a dyno, but I'd bet there would be one at the track...
