97 Z28 that's been sitting for a WHILE
So my buddy has a 97 Z28 that he got for a great price, but it has been sitting for the last 2 years with the same gas in it (in someones driveway). The battery was dead, so we replaced it with a brand new one. Apparently the car was running fine when it was parked, but hasn't been started since. I can tell the rotors are completely rusted over too, and the tires look bad... but that's another subject.
So, I can hear the fuel pump prime, and it turns over fine... it just won't start.
I plan to check next that it's getting spark.. but my question is... can something like the fuel lines, injectors, intake, be clogged up from the fuel sitting in there?
I plan to siphon out the old gas, and put a gallon or 2 of new gas in there with injector cleaner or something in it. Can I take the hose off the fuel rail and spray something in there?
Assuming I have spark, what exactly would you guys do? We just wanna get this thing started so we can start fixing it up.. it's gonna need new paint too.. the car was sitting outside.
Thanks!!

I wouldn't have done anything without putting fresh oil in it. also would have changing the plugs may help get it started, but I would've tried the old ones first. the fuel rails are easy enough to pop off for a look see, personally I wouldn't spray anything in them. pull the injectors and see how they look, perhaps soaking them in some fresh gas may help if there is a minor clog. you can also use a 12 v battery to see if the injectors are firing once you pull them out. I've done that before but I imagine there will be a few people around to say its a bad idea.
hope something there helps. it shouldnt be too hard to get it going. good luck!

Put in the fresh gas, then borrow a fuel pump pressure gauge and see what it's putting out at the Schrader valve. Check the spark and see if the injectors are getting power by using a 12V test lamp on one of the injector connectors. Fuel, air, spark.....

In a Camaro... Fuel + Air + Spark won't always work lol. They are picky haha. But put some fresh gas and DEFINITELY fresh oil... Check your spark and make sure injectors are working. Everything else should be relatively normal?

Yeah, everything else is relatively normal as far as I can tell. I will definitely change the oil, put the fresh gas in, and go from there. I'm gonna try to get that gas out of there tonight. I'll let you guys know, thanks again!
