Default 97 Z28 rust on brake booster

Does anyone know if I should be worried about what appears to be some surface rust on my power brake booster? Master cylinder looks brand new. Don't know if previous owner changed it or not. There is some rust around the area where the master attaches to the booster. Brakes operate fine. I'm thinking/hoping that the master was changed and some brake fluid spilled on the booster and ate off some of the paint leaving it to surface rust a bit.
Thanks!
Jeff

You are correct, Brake fluid is very hard on paint. Short term it will not hurt any thing but you need to kill the rust. If you don't it will spread to your brake lines. As the rust falls off it is going to land and spread. There are a lot of ways to kill rust I like this stuff. Most Ace hardware stores have it. It will convert to black oxide. Just paint it after everything is dry.

Thanks Gorn. I'll give it a try.
