97 z28 aftermarket radio install now a security light???

Default 97 z28 aftermarket radio install now a security light???

i installed a aftermarket radio in my 97 z28 and now the security light is on in the dash call several audio shops in town no one knows why this happened any ideas thanks

Chances are it's because the original radio had the Delco-Lock system. Changing to the aftermarket could have set the security light (the computer thinking the radio was being stolen) in which case it would have locked the original radio from use. If you still have the original, you could try putting it back in and seeing if either 1) the security light goes out or 2) see if the original is now locked up.

try unhooking both cables to the battery, touch them together while they are not hooked to the battery for a couple minutes. if you have any aftermarket stereo equipment you need to unhook it from the sytem before touching cables together. let her set without power for 5 to 10 minutes. hook the battery back up. that should reset the system. heres some info on unlocking the antitheft using the stereo. How to unlock a THEFTLOCK or DELCO-LOC II audio system

damn stock radio is gone :-( i may take it to dealer to have it scaned don't know what else to do as audio shops in town don't even show the stock system i had as an option for the car
