Question 97 RS First Car?

Hey guys, i've been shopping around for my first car, will be turning 16 in May and have been looking for quite some time now. Was wondering if this was a decent option. Are they good running cars under or over 100,000 miles? Would it be too much for my first car? The 97 i'm looking at right now has t-tops and is white, leather interior, etc. They're asking 5 grand and it just seems like a sweet ride. Most of the 4th gen camaros are in my price range (5,000-6,000). One of my other concerns is the space inside of the car. I'm a large guy, so i just wanted to make sure that it would be comfortable for me to drive. I drive my mom's toyota matrix all of the time and it doesn't seem to be a problem. Just curious because i know that sportier cars tend to be smaller. My family says i'm a great driver so far. I've been driving on roads consistently for like 3 months. Any input is appreciated!

Thanks.

Where are you located?
V6 1997's near me:
101k miles, red, $4,000
104k miles, white, $2,500. And this one says it's a Z28 with the "fuel efficient" 3.8 V6. lol

Price does seem high. With 100K it should be in the 3500 range but area is important.

The 3800 good solid motor. Intake gasket is the most common issue with head gaskets next, With any 15 year old how the car has been maintained is the most inportant think about it. Do you have a family mechainc you can get to check it out for you? I would advise a coolant pressuure test and a general inspection.

I don't think 200hp is too much for a 3400lb car. I plan on letting my daughter drive mine when she gets her license.

How big is big? I am 6'1" 300lbs I fit fine. I do have to tilt the seat back alittle. I think Camaro 69 is 6'4 or 6'5 and he owend one. Maybe he can chime in.

I'm southeast of phoenix. There are definitely cheaper ones out there. I was just interested in this one because it's under 100,000 miles and looks like it has been taken care of. One owner, non-smoking, leather looks nice, etc.

I'm 6 foot 320 lbs. Just curious to get any input before I go look at one. I won't buy it if I don't fit. Hahaha. Thanks again guys.
