That is EXACTLY, what mine does, rofl. 1/4 tank is accurate. Not much else

if your gage is pegged at full with 1 gallon then there is a problem with the sender or wiring like 69 said. look at number 34 here 4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids

My friend's Corvette had a level sending problem because he always put Costco gas in it. Costco has great prices, but they aren't considered a TOP TIER gas provider. Some people claim this means there aren't enough additives to clean the deposits off your fuel sender. They might be right, he ran a couple of bottles of Techron through it and the sending unit started working again.

Really though, his specific issue was the needle would swing; not like your problem where your needle is pegged to full.

whats schematics to wire a new gauge?

test your gage first. it may be the sending unit is simply unplugged. this is copied from the link i gave you.

To test back to the gauge, ground the purple wire on the body side of the connector back toward the gauge (key ON). The gauge should read empty. With the connector unplugged and no ground applied, the gauge should read full.
