Default 97 3800 hesitation/misfire issue

Good afternoon,

Im seeking help to resolve an issue im having with my 1997 Camaro 3800. Ive had this car for about 4 years now , driving it a couple times a month. A month ago, I was driving down the expressway pushing probably 80 mph. When it started giving me this stuttering/hesitation when I have it gas. Possible misfire? It only happens when im giving it gas while under 2400-2600 rpm. Once it gets passed there, it starts accelerating smoother unless I floor it. Sometimes the shuttering is heavy and sometimes its light. Now, I don’t know too much about cars besides my ability to change some oil and little stuff like that. I would probably say the cars worth about a whopping $1500 so im not trying to spend hundreds of dollars trying to fix this problem. The shuttering, hesitation, misfire issue happens while in park, stopped at a red light, accelerating and in reverse. The weird thing is (now that its getting colder out) that it does not happen as much when I first start the car in the morning. So it starts occurring more as the engine gets hotter. This may narrow down what the issue may, it may not. I have been told many things as it could be 1. Fuel filter 2. Cat convt 3. Throttle position sensor? 4. Coil pack (replaced about 40k ago) 5. O2 sensors 6. ……?

I would really like to narrow down this issue so I can get it fixed without spending hundreds of dollars (unless needed). I do not need this car, but I am trying to get it running to hand it over to a friend in need. Please, any suggestions or ideas would really help.

test your fuel pressure. failing fuel pump can work fine untill it warms up, even more so if fuel level is low enough to bring the fuel below the pump. cold fuel helps to keep it kool.

also have it scanned for trouble codes, if you get any, write down the numbers and let us know what they are. parts store should be able to help you out with both fuel pressure test and scann. if you can catch them at a slow time they may help do both.
