96 Camaro seats feel loose and flimsy - is this normal??
Hey all - 1996 Camaro RS, 3.8, 148,000 miles. Both the driver and passenger seats feel weak - they "flop" around when nobody is sitting in them (looseness in the recline mechanism?) and also have some looseness around the seat track. The tracks themselves are bolted down tight. Is this typical? Can I do anything about it?
It makes the car feel cheap and I wonder about the safety of it as well. Any input is much appreciated!

In mine, there's a tiny bit of play in the base of the seat, but not much. The rear of the seat can be rotated a few inches forward/backward if nobody's sitting in it, but once you put your weight on it, my seats stay where they're put.
Are your seats powered or standard?

My driver's side is a little floppy, but it's not noticeable unless I pull up on the thing to make the top part fold forward, then pull it back. Then it bounces a little. If anything, just take the seats out and check the underside. My seats aren't power and there's only 4 bolts to take out. Something might be loose, broken, or missing.

In my '02 RS, the driver seat has play when you brake or accelerate sharply or wobble front to back in the seat, the track has a problem. Supposedly the only fix is track replacement, unless anyone knows otherwise?
