Hi guys, I live in the uk and have got a jap import 1995 Z28 Camaro. Have just fitted a cold air induction kit and cherry bomb muffler. I have just tryed to install my hypertech power programmer but it keeps saying PROGRAMMER NOT FOR THIS VEHICLE. I have checked the part number and it is the correct programmer for the 95 z28.
Could it be because it is a jap import?
Any suggestions/advice welcome as hypertech dont seem interested, Many thanks.

 

Is the programmer new? If not, the prior owner may not have reinstalled the factory program to their car, which would mean the programmer can't be used on any other car. If it is new, the only thing I can think of is the computer in your car may not be the original, and may not match the model years your programmer was designed for.

 

Hi mate, thanks for your reply. Have just checked my VIN on camaro source and turns out i own a 1996 camaro not a 95. Looks like the importers got the year wrong. Very anoying but least i know why its not working.

Dude don't use the hypertech! Get he pcm tuned! You'll thank me later!

 

Cheers for the advice mate will look in to getting the pcm tuned. The problem is finding someone in the UK who can do it.

 

He was talking about getting it done by www.pcmforless.com I believe. He is rather happy after they did his.
