95 z28
One of my buddies is selling a 95 z28 and I got a couple of questions. Overall it looked in pretty good shape, sorry for not a full body shot, but it has sit under a cover for 3 years but saddly sat outside with it on. Besides needing a oil change and fluids checked has any one ever had a camaro that has sat for 3 years and then ran or not ran? Or no of any problems that go along with a car sitting for that long? Next In the picture with the seal it was the trunk seal does it look like you can just move it back into place/reglue it back or does it look like the seal is wrecked? The only other problem was that all the disc on the brakes were rusted beyond belief. But he said he could fix before he sells it to me. Lastly i noticed that it had the bose system. Has anyone had problems with that year or the amps that are in it. I know in my 89 corvette the bose system sucked. Any thoughts suggestions? THANKS!

The car looks to be in reasonable condition for sitting that long. Since it has sat for that long you'll probably need to siphon out the current gas and get some fresh fuel in there. It probably won't be easy to start, but providing there wasn't anything wrong with it before it was parked it should start. I can't think of anything in particular that can go "wrong" from the car sitting, you'll need to replace the brakes if they're rusted, tires may have flat spots on them. That seal for the trunk looks like you should just be able to put it back into place. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
Okay thanks, Also does anyone know if you can change the reciver on the bose system to a new one and still keep the speakers. The reason is the bose reciever has a casseste player and was wandering if you can put in a new cd reciever and still have it work. THANKS!
a buddy of mine from GM gave me a tip when buying camaros- get a buddy and start the car, since this one was sitting without starting regularly, you might want to put some fresh oil and swap out the gas filter. start it let it get to operating temp then shut it off and leave it till it gets cold, i mean cold. then have one person inside and you pop the hood and stand by. start it up and immediately have the buddy rev the car to 1500 rpm, 2000 rpm, 2500 rpm and 3000 rpm. hold the pedal at each one. at each rpm you listen to the engine for knocks, pings or whatever tapping noises, dont get confused with sounds from pulleys and sounds from the engine. if the car is good on that test then you know you have some longevity if you buy it. once thats good, check for leaks underneath, as well as vacuum leaks.
btw is that a v6 looks tiny..

That's definitely and LT1, the picture is just squished funny.
If you're looking to replace the head unit with an aftermarket one you're going to need to replace the whole system. The Bose speakers are a 2 Ohm impedance speaker, most speakers are 4 Ohms, so most head units will overdrive the speakers. The Bose amp catches this and disables the speakers. You may be able to pick up a used Bose head unit with CD...
