Default 95 LT1

I have the option to buy a 95 LT1 block and crank and some misc parts with it.. No heads or cam, pistons, intake blah blah blah...So the guy wants $100 for block and crank, is it worth it? Plans to build, possible bore and what ever. My concern is cracks. Let me know what you think.

The problems with cracks is that many times they are not visible. It is always a good idea to get a unknown block magnafluxed before spending money on it. Make a deal with the seller, that if the block turns up defective you can get your money back. Also measure the cylinders for overbore, you don't want a block that has been overbored to the limit.

Yes, the LT4 came with a 4 bolt main, but the LT1 didn't.

Also, if the LT1 came out of a Corvette it had 4 bolt mains. For some reason GM decided that Corvettes were worthy of 4 bolt mains, and that F bodies andB bodiesdid not deserve them.

Got to give the Vette owners something to brag about, and then again, what is a few bolts, more or less, between friends. LOL
