95 camaro 3.4L drive shaft length?
I have a 95 camaro 3.4L 5speed. the drive shaft is bad in it(among other things, ill try and read before posting about.) ive found a drive shaft shop near me that will custom make an aluminum one for me, its cheaper than buying a new one and will have it made in a few hrs rather than a week or so but asked for the length on it. ive never replaced a drive shaft so have no clue how to and my jack was stolen so i cant even get under the car if i knew how. does anyone know the stock length of the drive shaft for it? also what else will i need to change or upgrade to go from the stock 2 piece to the 1 piece aluminum shaft?
Thanks for all your help and knowledge

what yr Ls1 would fit? problem im having is i cant find hardly anything in stock at parts store or salvage yard and if i do it has to be ordered. I live in clearwater,fl and here the one place i did find, the shaft had 200k miles on it and wanted $35 less than the new 1 i could have made for me. I need something in hand today 8/23/11 so i can get to work tomorrow plz help with any info to get this fixed today.... thanks again

If you take your old driveshaft to the welding/machine shop that's going to make the one-piece shaft for you, they'll be able to measure the length. That would be the least expensive way to go, other than finding a used one. That way they can reuse your existing u-joint ends and slip yoke. I've had custom driveshafts made before when doing unconventional engine swaps, where a "stock" shaft doesn't exist, and it wasn't very costly...here anyway. I have an aluminum 3rd/4th gen driveshaft standing in the corner of the garage (no I don't want to sell it). I can give you measurements from that.

Ok, my aftermarket aluminum driveshaft is exactly 41" long. Driveshafts are measured u-joint center hole to center hole on the shaft. It's not an overall length to include the slip yoke. I have also seen the 41.5" dimension being thrown around, but that could just be a difference between a factory and my aftermarket shaft. I don't have a factory one to measure against. Mine did work just fine in both my 96 and 91.

ok so i got it back from shop, its great! i asked what they measured it to be and mine was 42". drives great and had the shaft made, brand new American u joints put in and installed all for $204 out the door!!! WOW those guys are GREAT.
Next prob, on my way home the car over heated... big time. radiator fan wasn't working when i bought the car (a week ago) so i checked the relay, there was none. went and got one today before i picked up the car from shop put it in before i drove it home (13 miles) few miles from the house the car almost hit the red so i turned it off and coasted to a stop on side of road, let it cool then got it home. radiator as empty and cap was almost off. the car sat for 8months that i know of, any ideas why this would be happening? also i replaced the surp belt, it seemed tight cuz the tension er is pretty much maxed out... would that have something to do with it? again plz help, thanks
