Default 94 Firebird project.... worth it?

I cam across a deal (at least in my eyes, not my friends)

It is a 94 Firebird v6 car swapped to an lt1 t56 out of an ss car.
His story checks out i decoded the vin and it was a v6 car.

The car has the following:

Long tubes
true duals with flowmaster super 44s
had the pcm tuned at lt1 pcm tuning.com
egr delete and air delete
a/c and heat delete.
3.73 in the rear
meizer electric water pump
line lock
k&n cai
msd opti / wires/ and coil

ok thats all the good.

the bad is it the electrical.

his plan was to strip everything and use it as a track car and run an aftermarket fuse box.

The car starts and moves under its own power.

the water pump/fans need to be wired in.

the cars "luxuries" are not wired up (power windows and lock, radio, interior lights ect ect)

The dash is completely out of the car and wiring is all in plan view. It also comes with the dash and a spare harness.

So ive talked him down and we are at 1,500 .... I personally think its a good deal but all my friends one of which is very big into 4th gen fbodies told me not to get it or if i do pull the motor and tranny and start fresh.

What do you guys think? Id love to hear all the positives and negatives!

IMHO, it's not worth messing with. You're better off finding a original V8 car than trying to mess with some one else's project. If it was complete, it'd be different. You could take your friends advice and tear everything down and start clean, but this will require a lot of time and money and isn't worth it if you need the car right away. If it's something that can wait, it's up to you whether you feel confident in attempting to put another persons project together.

I greatly appreciate the honesty! Thank you.

It wouldnt be a daily driver so it is no rush at all on getting it done.

I didnt say in my o.p my true intentions but i planed on buying the car, getting the few things going (fans, water pump) to at least drive it a bit, make a custom dash (i am handy in the interior and electronics department) then when i got sick of it pull the motor/wiring and sell the lt1 then swap it with a sbc.

It worth it depending on the milage on the motor and transmission. You should be able to get $800-$1200 just for the transmission. In is for A LOT of work. I am in the process of installing a LT1 6 speed into a body that had a Lt1 6 speed. I have never seen this car together. It is taken a ton of research and work finding all the brackets where they go. In your car you will not be sure if what it there is right. Your not going to loose money on the deal even if it gets to be too much.

From what he clams the body has 120k the motor and tranny came from an ss camaro with 70k on it..... which could be a lie, or it could be the truth. I usually am very negative and think the worst but why would someone go through all the trouble to swap a v6 car with a motor and tranny with high mileage

Also very good point about not losing out if i got over my head on it! I feel like 1500 is a fair price considering it being so clean under neither

I paid $1500 for a 93 LT1 6 speed witha blown motor. Then another $1500 for a Engine/tranny with 31K on it. Once the car is done I plan on selling the extra T56 setup and EFI system.

I have seen Lt1s T56 drive trains with 70K on them sell for $1500. Do you know what year the LT1 is from? The SS part does not mean much since the SS package is all cosmedic and suspension stuff. The motor is exactly the same as a Z.

Unless it's secretly from a '97 SS that just happens to be a LT4 without the seller knowing.
