Ok so I found out my dad has a Actron Code Scanner CP9001. We checked his 2 cars with it and was working fine. Plugged it into the camaro and the check engine light wouldn't flash at all. No code 12 or anything. The code book said to check my owners manual and look at "diagnostic circuit check".. I dont have the manual. Any ideas how to fix this. I still have the scanner with me so I can check anytime.

you cant flash codes on a 94 up and that scanner is for up to 93. not all will read the codes on the 94 either so you will need a scanner that will.

On the box for the scanner it says it is compatible with a 94 Camaro 3.4L, and 5.7L.. I read somewhere I need an OBD1 scan tool with an OBD2 cable. Is that correct.. Also I have an ignition interlock in the car could that be blocking the read.. Or can 94's just absolutely not do flash codes?

94s cannot flash codes at all and you shouldnt need the obd2 plug... is the port on the car rectangular or a trapezoid

ya like i said some places have it and some dont. i know in NY where i lived i couldnt get an obd1 scanned at the parts store but here one of the autozones around me has an obd1 scanner.

try some trans shops alot of the time theyll scan it for free or really cheap (thats what i did in NY cost me 10$ per scan, not to bad in my opinion)

the port is rectangular. I'll check around some more to see if some shops can do it for me.

Aight so I just got to find someone with an OBD1 scanner with readings not flash codes. Appreciate it. Out of curosity why can't the 94 flash? Is the 94 just like inbetween the obd1 and 2 switch out? I'm learning this as I go. Never done this before.
