I'm new so please be kind lol. My 94 runs fine when its cold, but when it's up to temp it developes a bad miss. For example In 3rd gear at 35 mph giving it a little gas will make the whole car shake. Things I've changed are, plugs, wires, coil packs, camsensor. I've tried running water over the front of the engine to see if the crank position sensor was going bad but no diff. Havn't been able to find the 3x sensor, if someone has a picture I would appricate it.
Any way am I going in the right direction or should I be looking for something else?

Get the car scanned for codes

 

its most likely a sensor. sounds like the issue comes about when the system goes closed loop. that would point to a sensor failing or giving false information. test your temp senors, air and coolant, test maf and map if you have both, 02 sensors can be tested, check the how to and faq sticky at the top of the 4th gen section.

Have it scanned for codes, or if you buy the scanner at auto zone, you'll always be able to retrieve your codes yourself

 

I must be posting wrong, lost the last to posts, hope they are not going to the wrong thread.
anyway, had the 94 scanned, no codes showing, loop is closed (which is normal, closed or open?)
Temp would go up about 20 degress when sitting at a light, so I flushed the rad. it needed it anyway.
last weekend we traded the wifes 99 on a 2012 LT1 conv. but i'm going to keep the 94 and work on it when I can.

open loop is the program used when the car is first started or it senses that a sensor is failing, runs on a preset program and uses only a couple sensors. once warmed up the system goes closed and runs using all the sensors and adjusting to the needs. so did the flush do the trick or is the problem still there

 

The 3X sensor (crankshaft position sensor, low resolution) is located on the right side of the block just forward of the block coolant drain plug. It's pretty much hidden by the starter motor when looking up from below. See the pic at the end of this post.

I don't think that a sensor is causing the problems your car is experiencing. Sensors help the computer determine the correct amount of fuel to inject for *all* cylinders and then adjust that amount for changing conditions.

Your car sounds like one or two cylinders are dropping out once the engine warms up.

I'd be looking for an ignition system fault first. You say that you've replaced the plugs, wires, and coil packs so I guess I'd double check those components for tight connections. If that stuff checks out I'd get another ignition module. They do go bad and act wonky when they heat up. There are a *lot* of miles on yours if it is the original one.

 

I think I'll check / change the ignition module next. The "lot" of miles are all mine, lol I bought the car in 94 and am the original owner. Hope the new 2012 last as long! The flush did help the temp rise.

 

what scanner did they use. obd2 scanner will not work on a 94.
