ok yesterday i was driving on the express at night alone and decided i wanted to see what my car could do. so i speed up an get my car up to 115mph and the needle stays there. oh yeah by the way my speedo gauge tops outs at 115mph but i have a hypertech chip in it that remove the limiter. so after getting up to 115mph i slow the car down back 60mph and drive normal an all of a sudden the car acts if it didnt want to pull after giving it somes gas and then my oil pressure drop to 0. there was this metal noise coming from the front of the engine. so i thinking crap i messed up my engine. then the car shuts offs. so i crank the car up again an its running fine. so pull into a gas station an let my hood up. i notice a burning smell coming front the engine bay but no smoke. so check all my fluids. the oil was full and clean. the tranny was red and clean but a little low. so i added a 1/2 quart of tranny fluid and a can of k&w tranny fluid. the car runs good and still pulls strong. my question is what happen. why would my car oil pressure drop to 0 and cut off. crank back run fine and then have a burning smell coming from the engine bay. i dont understand it.

 

first off...it cant be a z28 if it has a 115 speedo, only the v6s had those.sounds like there is a possibility of an internal engine issue,either the oil pump died or cut off or your oil pressure sending unit is bad.what kind of burning do you smell ?
