Im not in a hurry by anymeans and my thing is i could almost get all the parts from junk yard, expecially the motor can get it for about 100 bucks and just rebuild it..... same with trans but my concerns are locations of motor mounts and stuff like that. I have already spent a lot of time working on this car and put more into it then its worth so its kind of hard to just get rid of it and take the loss but would it just be better to buy a crap 96 and try to rebuild and mod it?

If you are still talking converting you car, forget it. If you are still thinking about it head over to the projects section. Check out some of the V6 to V8 convertions and see what is involved. Going from a 3.4 to a 3800 would be the the same amount of work.

Much easier to buy a 96-02 with a blown head gasket or rod knock, If you take your time you can find car in REALLY nice shape. Mine was a one owner, garage kept, dealer maintained car, the lady had put $1200 for all new T-top seals 6 months before I bought it. I did look at a LOT of junk. Cars that did not just need motors, cars that needed restored. Those are parts cars, Funny part is they sell for about the same price, You just got wait to find the diamon in all the coal.

93 is a one year model when it comes to certain things. lt1 more so than 3.4. if the parts are in very good shape they can be expensive. do some looking around on ebabe and see what comes up i know when i was looking for ***** a couple years back i was really surprised. only year with yellow trim on *****. gauge cluster and auto shift plate also has yellow trim. 3.4 auto trans may be a one year part. if you get to tearing into it don't cut wires, good stock harnesses are rare. not all. anyways do some searches and see whats going on out there. may do ok.
