Default 93 camero t5 vs 98 camero t5?

I bought a nice "tower of power" t5 shifter for my 98 camero. The problem is that it says on it for an 89-93. It seems like it fits besides the new longer bolts that came with it not being metric. The heat shield and billet shifter **** are a little wonky on it, but it seems fine. Should I just leave it? I don't want to cause any long term damage but if the parts are identical besides the screws then I can live with that. Any help would be super appreciated!(also I've seen short throws for it that are 89-02 so there must be some crossover, yeah?)
