Does it ever not want to go in? Like when you go to put it into reverse it feels like there isnt even a gear there, and you have to double clutch it in or let the car roll a little so it can slide in? I dont know what that problem would be but thats something my car does sometimes and one of my friends Eclipses does.

my car does the same exact thing, really pisses me off cuz when it desides it doesn't want to go into gear it takes at least 2 or 3 tries, and it likes to do it when other people are around[:@]. I've heard that it can either be the lock out solenoid, or the synchro, yes the t-56 has a synchro for reverse. No definitive answer on how to really tell which it could be, or if could be something else. I really wish that we could get a answer from someone who's had this problem and has done a tranny rebuild and could report thier findings.

That would happen to me, but in second gear. It got worse and then it wouldn't go into second. I had the tranny rebuilt and found out I needed 1st to 2nd synchro assembly and a newsecond gear (this was on top of the rebuild kit I bought).

I also needed a new input shaft(which would explain the low grinding sound in 4th @ all rpms), and a new 5th-6th synchro assembly. The tranny had about 190k in it btw.
