Default 4th/2nd gen engine swap

Hey guys and gals, first off i would like to say wow, does the 4th gen sec. ever have alot of stickies. i posted a thread in the 2nd gen sec. before (full of useful info) and even asked to sticky it (even others suggested it should be stickied) so i don't have to keep searching for it for others to see. The only info sticky we have in the 2nd gen sec. is a link to the NastyZ28 site.

Anyways, enough with that rant lol (sorry). I never been to fond of the 4th gen but lately i have been getting more attached to them. There is a 94 with a 3.4L for sale near me for $1100 OBO, it has 325000km on it. Now my question is, Can i drop a 350 SBC (carbed, pre 86) into it? Has anyone done this? what would i need to do to make this work?

Thanks for any info

Joe

You can do it but it's cheaper to buy a z28 and keep the engine in it. You'll have filter fitment problem and alot of body control problems. With the 3.4l swap you'd need the v8 k member, suspension, tranny and a drive shaft to be fitted. You'd need a new fuel system. And alot of time to deal with getting any power controls to work. If you do it keep us updated as I want to do it but don't want to try figuiring out all the problems.

Also dont forget about where the dizzy will be located... under the dash!

Now putting a 4th gen engine in the 2nd gen cars is a very doable thing with little extra mods.

There is a sticky in the V6 section V8-V6 swap. In that thread there is a link to one member who has completed the swap. I'll save you some time. I tried to warn the Poster about the cross member he went about it the hard way. If you get a Lt1 K member it can be modified. You can also buy a already made Kmember. The problem is no other parts are out there. You have to make the entire wiring harness and a lot of brackets to make it work.

Good Luck,,,

If you like the 4th gen but your on the cheap you might want to look at the 96+ 3800. 3800/5 speed is not a boring car to drive and can be had under 2K. If you don't mine the wrench time you can pick one up with a bad motor for $500-700 and pick up a low miles 3800 from a FWD car for $500 and be good to go for a 100,000 miles. 230 HP with some boltons aint bad.
