3800 to Lt1? Please help
Ok, I'm new to this post and am sure to become a regular. I own a 96 Camaro RS automatic whose 3.8 just recently took a dive. I'm curently deployed to Iraq and am saving up plenty of money and plan on doing an engine swap. I plan on ordering parts to my parents house and hopefully have everything there when i get home. I'm looking for input frommore knowledgableenthusiasts. I originally planned on dropping an LT1 but I've been hearing good things about the LS1.
Arethe motor mounts for the 3.8 the same for the LT1?
(The LS1?)
And wouldI have to replace the wiring harness also or is there a painless kit?
I'm wondering if the clearance on the Corvette LT's would fit into the Camaro's?
I'm sure there is a lot more I need to be aware of before starting this project and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm also thinking about a six-speed tranni!?

I don;t know enough about it to give you any tech advice but first I wish you well while you are deployed. Anyone who is delployed there deserves a new engine. I have a 3.8 and I like it but if or when it goes I'll go with a V-8. If you have a good GM service dept. they may be able to tell you exactly what you need and what the cost of parts would be. All I know is that a V* can be put in. Good luke and God speed.
