As high as the carb sits, you'll have to get yourself a cowl induction type hood. Or cut a hole in yours.
Or go without a hood (I've heard of some crazies doing that)!

Does yours sit about the same place as the pic I posted? I would think a 3" cowl would be an easy fix. You could make a 2" cowl work but it will me tight. You could go real old school and add a scoop. You just cut a hole in your hood and install a addon scoop. you can either glass it in real nice or pop rivit in as a temp repair until you find a hood that fits your needs.

its sits about exactly in the same place as your pic. i was kinda thinking the same thing, cutting the cowl and getting a cowl hood but the 3" cowl hoods are hard to find and expensive. do you know of a place that sells quality cowl hoods for a decent price? the last one i found was $600

Most people think mounting the engine is the hard part. The 3800 means it is most likely has a body control module. That means everything except the head lights need rewired. It is beyond most people, one thing you can say about this swap is you will learn a lot. So many people start this swap with no idea what they are getting into. I went to mechanics school (Vale tech) we had to draw a complete wiring harness for a basic car on one pc of paper. Even a simple car gets complicated quickly add in AC, power door locks, power windows and pop hatch and it could get overwhelming fast.

Here in Allentown I have seen 3 or 4 "almost" finished swaps for sell on craigs list over the last 3 years. Funny thing is we have emission testing here, on pre 2000 cars it is simple there is no plugging in the emission system must appear intact and the car can have no codes. Even the "finished" swaps end up being parted out because they are worth more in parts then they are together.

yes takeing every component out of the car seats an all wires thats just crazy ,in my case the engine an trans were enough ,an it is a different car too ,least now i feel like i can take my time working ****** out ,an better parts build the rear end ,an at the same time drive it,this next year i will get the body work done on it ,i had found a 98 with a head gasket issue was 300.00 was to far to have it picked up ,but yes i want to find that an oem ss hood ,then paint it ,it will make a great around town car the 95 ,an further if i dont mind spending the gas money ,though i had my eyes open for an ss right time right place 98 to 02 ,in the northeast i have seen 3 or 4 of them since aug ,alll sold very fast under $6000.00 an 65.000 mile average ,people need the money ,sad but true sometimes, for the right ss i would traval out about as far as youis PA . mabey ohio,i have friend who loves to drive,an looking back at my build ,i would have been better off to find an 1980 roller ,then the options are endless ,but as far as this site i think it was one of the better swaps ,most guys got these junk used engine parts ,where with mine i got something that looks pretty good ,people love it in person ,others i see they do to many used parts is a waste

You are looking for a early gen OEM SS hood? SLP only did them in 96-97 and there was not a lot of them made. When one shows up on ebay it ends up a bidding war. You can find the 98-02 for $700ish. might be cheaper to do the whole front end to the 98-02 style.

at one point i wanted to get 93 to 97 ss hood ,but had a bad experience with an after market one ,so what i want to do is find yes the front end of 98 to 02 ,if ss thats would be great hard to find then all together ,i may just go with regular look too,but yes the head lights work much better ,on the 98.02 ,also a ws6 hood may work that been on a car ,,the 98 i had my eyes on for 300.00 whole car was 900.00 to ship it to me out of newyork ,so i need to find local ,i need to find one with ss hood right time right place that the first part people want ,i seen them from 350.00 to 500.00 for the hood oem i would love to find, had a friend sad he knew about one ,did not hear back from him ,the ultra hood is kinda cool too ,but to find an ss car would be the best deal ,an someone need to sell it fast so yes i want the 95 to look like 98 -02 ,,i have seen the coversion on a 96 an a 94 looking good, had a trailer an truck a few years ago my friend who passed ,we sold few used cars ,i would like to get that going again ,but the truck an trailer were sold ,would need new set up ,they have those uhaul ones you just hook up the front end is another thought,i would like to do that again ,but he was the mech ,few times made 2000.00 a week ,just finding them on ebay or graigs list then turn them ,now i need to sell alot of jewlery to get back to that ,thats the best way to get cars cheap
