I have a chance to get a 95 firebird LT1 with a bad engine. I have a fully built up 375 horse 327 that I built about 3000 miles ago in a 65 impala. I would like to sell the impala and put the 327 into the firebird. Are the motor mounts basically the same after I swap the 327 ones for later style sbc mounts? Are the bellhousing bolt patterns the same? Will an HEI distributor fit? If not will a smaller mallory or other fit? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I can't answer all your questions but I do know a bit about the bell housing. My best friend has a 327 out of a '64 Impala in his '69 Camaro. He went through a bunch of transmissions (even a couple of expensive M-22's) and then in the early '90s it seemed like everyone had a T-5 kicking around that was for sale cheap so he decided to give ita try. The bolt patterns match up BUT when you get it mounted the transmission is rotated about 20 degrees clockwise, that is, the top and bottom of the T-5 aren't level side-to-side.Hedoctored a cross membermeant fora 400 small block (tube, not stamped metal). I'm not sure ifthe T-56 would work the same way or not, but the 5 speed seems to work really well. He still goes through a tranny every couple of summers though! DPS = dry pavement starts

The motor mounts are not the same. I installed a late model Carberated 383 into my 94 camaro. I had to replace the K-member to do the conversion. I got my parts from BMR Fabrication in IN. I can also tell you that you can buy long tube headers to fit in the car aswell from HOOKER and a Cat back 3" exhaust system from them aswell. If you have any more question let me know. I can also put some pics. of this aswell.
