Now, is there any chance the rs could beat the z in a stoplight to stoplight to stoplight situation?

 

513 gears and it would give you a run. light to light is in the 1/8 mile range.

 

Sure if it ran out of gas, got a flat tire, had a preass in front of it, or the guy was dialing his cell phone ect ect ect.

 

Depends on whose 10 bolt breaks first.

Ive owned both engines.... there is no VS. and no comparison.

 

With the RS, the 305 is also the "weak link"!
Coincidentally, I've had both, a 91 RS and 96 Z28.

 

The 230 HP 305 was TPI Upgrade to the base Z28 (205 HP TPI). It was not put in a 91 RS. A stock 91 RS would have had a 170 HP TBI 305. If its stock 91 RS it would run about even with 96 V6. The 96 V6 5 speed would be a little faster.
