3.8L transmission change
Okay I got a 1997 3.8L automatic camaro. Few weeks ago some lady crashed into my car and damaged the rear quarter panel. Shop is asking for WAY to much to fix. Now I found a 1997 3.8L manual camaro for $700 (headgasket blown). So my question is can I just drop in my engine in with no modifications?

Engine and trans would involve changing alot of the car's wiring as well and patch up the hole in the floor from the trans linkage.
Now if you were going to leave the other car a manual and just swap engines that is an easy job and does not take much to make it good. Drop the old engine out the bottom of both cars and move one to the other, bolt back together. Keep the wiring harness and computer from the manual car on that car. It is not that hard to do. It took me 3 long days using only general shop tools to swap out my engine with one from a 2000 Bonneville. It may take a little longer for you since you need to dismantle 2 cars but the job should go pretty easy.

P.S. Why not have the person that hit you pay to fix your car?
