i have a 98 v6 camaro love the car it's fast but i've bought it with 120,000 miles so i was thinking of putting in a newer engine a ls1 since i know it will fit in the engine bay give me more hp obviously but do you guys think it's worth it? how much will this project cost appximately? and what parts besides the engine and tranny will i need? thanks in advance

short answer, not worth it, ls1's are getting cheaper by the day, you can find them with 70-80k miles for around $9k or mid-low mile ls1's run around $10.5-14k.

As stated before its not worth the effort or funds. Save up and use trade the 3800 in or keep her for a daily driver

It's almost like it's tradition for new members to ask about swapping their V6 for an LS1 (I did the same thing).

This is also common on a lot of mustang forums as well. Guys pick up a cheap V6 and the first thing they want to know is how to swap it to the V8. The reply is the same for the most part

would it be worth it if it was a do it urself,
and most parts picked up cheap?
(we know a lot of junk yards with good parts)
(we also have all the tools)
