2002 Z28 Camaro Wouldn't Start - VATS
My VATS module got activated because of a problem with either the key chip reader or the wiring in the steering column. After measuring the resistance at the output of the chip reader (showed an open circuit), I did the VATS bypass with a series of resistors (to match the resistor value on my key chip), and inputted it into the VATS module. The security light went out, but the car still wouldn't start so I had my buddies help me to push start the car, and it started. I think that the motion of the car may have reset VATS because of the movement of the car that was detected by the motion sensors. I'm not sure on this theory but it worked, so I wanted to pass this info on in case anyone else runs into this problem.

VATS disables the fuel injectors if it is not happy. If the car started by pushing, then the VATS had to be happy. If the starter was not working but you were able to start the car by pushing, then there is a problem with the starter or starter circuit.
As far as I can remember these cars do not have motion sensors, unless someone added them.
