Hello, I'm new here, so bear with me. I just purchased a 2002 SS and have a problem with the Monsoon radio. It plays fine on AM, plays on FM, but the volume is so low that you can barely hear it. The CD player doesn't work at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

check your speakers to see if they are stock or aftermarket, po may have installed aftermarket system and took head unit out and put stock unit back in before selling. rather than look for used head unit i would replace system with aftermarket.

 

Thanks for the info. I'll check the speakers. Was hoping to keep the Monsoon system in as the car is bone stock and I am planning to keep it that way. I may put in aftermarket to be able to enjoy some tunes and hang on to the Monsoon.

 

keep an eye out for a good used one with a working cd player. one of the amps for this system is located at/on the front speakers so it may be they are not getting power.

 

The Monsoon amplifier is located in the right rear quarter just in front of and behind the spare tire. It drives all speakers except the 4 tweeters in the doors and rear quarters.



If you find a good cheap one with a bad front panel, you can swap front panels. Make sure it is the same-looking front as yours though.
