2001 3.8 overheating

Thanks for all the comments and tips guys. I think that is my problem. I'm going to bleed the system again and more thoroughly this time. Does the funnel increase the likelyhood of success?

The funnel helps more in the department of not loosing antifreeze. When the system burps and the air comes rushing through the hoses it will displace the coolant and spill it out the top. With the funnel this is not the case. They work really well, but remember to open the valve on the T-stat housing and also if you can point the nose up so air does not get trapped in the back of the heads.
